The dark side of outer space
I guess I’ll feel the seasons
For no particular reason
Despite what I’ve been told
That life dies in the cold.
Golden leaves found falling
The haze of summer stalling
Beauty fades so fleetingly
Day becomes night too easily
As we near that eternity
Of waiting for
Spring’s symphony.
Bodies asleep with stillness
Minty drinks around Christmas
Coldness wrapped around me
Sun no longer in the garden
Between the breathing leaves and groves
And solitude enforced by
The purgatory of the snow.
But in my dreams we’re not alone
Laughter holds me like a fire
And even with no sun
Love continues taking me higher
I saw my smile land in his eyes
And it caught me by surprise
Humanity together
Is a reminder we’re alive
I’ve spent winters past
Awaiting blooming days
But the dark side of outer space
reveals its own ways
While the Earth tilts on its axis
Away from our glowing sun
This year I’ll choose to believe
There’s still things you can become.
